FromFilm.com is a combination of several of my old projects relating to 16mm film. While it used to be my stock footage project website it is now a conglomeration of several projects.
Our primary project (I call it an accessibility project) is to make some types of film more readily available to be viewed online. TV commercials, industrial film and educational films are most of my personal collection so that’s our focus.
At present the website serves as a point of contact for people who want to get in touch with me for reasons relating to film.
What’s going to be of most interest to visitors here will be the TV commercials that I am posting on YouTube. These are from film (hence the name of this domain) that I have collected and transferred myself.
In late 2007 I bought a machine to transfer film – it transfers film frame-by-frame and slower than normal running speed. I originally bought it so I could transfer my film collection so it would be more readily viewed. Well, that grew into doing transfers for some folks (and I no longer do that, by the way – I only transfer my own film).
Our YouTube channel (mostly commercials right now) is http://www.youtube.com/bkdurham – that’s where most of our TV commercials are at.
Some of our other activity (educational films and sponsored films among other things) is at http://www.youtube.com/fromfilm.
And I have to say this because it will be asked. Pretty much all the commercials I have are on the bkdurham YouTube account. I can’t take requests because I never know what I have coming in. Usually I order TV commercials, movie trailers, etc in bulk and sight unseen hoping for a few gems.
If you have a footage request or would like to donate or sell me some 16mm film/commercials/etc, leave a comment or email me and I will get back to you.
